Former Dot-Com Exec Launches Poker Magazine (OPN Staff)
Bhu Srinivasan, a former executive of InfoSpace.com, is launching a new bimonthly poker magazine in late December. The magazine, All In, will be sold at several large-scale venues, including Barnes & Nobel, Wal-Mart and Target. In addition, All In will be distributed by Time Distribution Services in the hopes of achieving 150,000 subscriptions by mid-2005.
Although start-up magazines generally boast only about a 40% chance of survival, the U.S. magazine industry has recently begun to pick up. The magazine's success or failure also rides on poker's status as the game-of-the-moment. With five television networks broadcast poker-related programming, the game's popularity does not seem to be waning.
